  • Chicken pieces = 3 Pounds (breasts, thighs, legs and wings)
  • Buttermilk = 1 Cup
  • Cayenne pepper = 1/2 teaspoon
  • Paprika = 2 teaspoon
  • Hot sauce = 2 teaspoon
  • Kosher salt = 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper = 1 teaspoon (ground)
  • All-purpose flour = 3 Cups
  • Egg= 1 large
  • Vegetable, canola, or olive oil for frying 

Instructions For Homemade Publix Fried Chicken Recipe

Step 1

Take a large bowl, add buttermilk and egg combine them properly and whisk until well mixed.

Step 2

In 2nd bowl, make a mixture of flour, salt, kosher, black pepper, paprika and cayenne pepper.

Step 3

Now dip each piece of chicken into buttermilk mixture and then transfer it in flour mixture bowl for coating. Repeat this process for all chicken pieces.

Step 4

Heat the vegetable or olive oil in large pot to 350F. Now carefully place one by one chicken pieces into hot vegetable oil, few pieces at a time and fry them for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown and tender.

Step 5

Once chicken is fried properly, remove from the oil and place it on paper towel to remove extra oil.
