Today we are going to share a special recipe of sweet and delicious Panocha. If you are a sweets lover and want to make healthy and yummy sweets then this is for you. This homemade Panocha recipe is super-easy to make at home. Panocha is a traditional sweet of Latin America, it’s typically made with piloncillo, brown sugar, milk, nutmeg, and wheat flour.  Panocha sweet is traditionally famous for Christmas events but now people enjoy it year-round.

I got this recipe from my Mexican friend, she made it every Christmas. The last time when I tried this unique dessert at her home, I liked it. I requested her to share the traditional recipe of Panocha, So we can publish it here for our visitors.

Ingredients For Panocha Recipe

  • Sprouted wheat Panocha flour = 2 cups 
  • All-purpose flour = 1 cup 
  • Brown sugar =  3 cups 
  • Salt = 1 tsp
  • Butter to oil the pan =  1/2 tbsp
  • Boiling water = 4 cups 

How To Make Panocha Recipe (Step-by-Step Instructions)

Step 1

Take a large saucepan add water and brown sugar, and melt sugar in water on medium heat. While stirring continuously bring the mixture to a high boil. Make sure the sugar is fully dissolved.

Now add both flours gradually to the mixture and don’t stop stirring to prevent burning and lumps.

Preheat your oven to 150C.

Step 4

Take a baking sheet and grease it with butter, place your ready mixture on the baking sheet evenly.

Bake it low and slow for 2.5 to 3 hours, once it’s cooked properly remove it from the oven and allow it to cool.

Cut in small pieces and serve with tea or coffee.
